I come to this profession by way of my own internal adventure, professional experiences, and formal study.
Just as a trail guide might increase your awareness to new types of flora and fauna, I work with individuals and couples to bring new awareness and interest to their internal and relational ecosystems. Given the right support and nurturance, people are innately equipped to heal and grow.
I bring an engaged and curious stance to therapy along with integrated training in experiential therapies (IFS, PACT, mindfulness, psychodynamic) and developmental neurobiology. Attachment and systems theories have a large influence in my clinical approach. Most of the individuals I work with go on to join one of my ongoing process groups. I am experienced and trained in working across disciplines, and I am comfortable collaborating with other professionals in your treatment team, such as psychiatrists, school professionals, dietitians, doctors, and others.
My style is soulful yet wise, playful, and challenging while also compassionate. I both help people to problem-solve or learn skills for quick relief, as well as coach clients through a deeper exploratory process that yields real and lasting change.
I belong to a group practice serving central, south, and north Austin areas. More information about my role as Clinical Director with Louis Laves-Webb, LCSW, LPC-S and Associates can be found here.
